Mediation Complaints Policy

This policy concerns my work as a mediator. For my work as a barrister (including representing parties during mediations), my complaints policy is available on my Chambers’ Website.

Any complaints should be made in writing to me via. email or post within 28 days of the conclusion of the mediation. Complaints received outside these time limits will only be accepted when there have been extenuating circumstances justifying the delay.

I will acknowledge any complaints within 5 working days.

I will investigate and respond to any complaints within 21 days of receipt.

If additional time is needed to investigate the complaint, I will notify the complainant in writing as soon as possible and, in any event, within the initial 21 days.

If the complainant is dissatisfied with the outcome of any complaint, he or she may appeal to the Civil Mediation Council in accordance with their Complaints Procedure. Any such appeal must be made within one month of the consideration of the complaint by me and in any event within 6 months of the events giving rise to the complaint. Complaints received outside these time limits will only be accepted at the discretion of the CMC.

I will keep records of all complaints received and their outcomes for a period of six years.

In addition to complaints, I also welcome comments by the parties and their lawyers or representatives at the conclusion of mediations. All such comments are received, assessed and reviewed to improve my skills.
